The heroine who lost her temper in response to perceived slights and behaved stupidly at a party - when in fact she’d agreed to be paid a lot of money to go along with the pretence. I felt the whole setup was odd and then I discovered it was published in 1998 and realised that’s why it felt so dated. I’ve now read 4 of this author’s books and they all seem to be using the same trope - the fake relationship which eventually necessitates them sharing a bed and - guess what? - have sex!Īll of the heroines seem to be modelled on the same template. This read has some humor and some angst and all in all is a fun book with just enough angst to make it interesting. This is to be a business agreement as the H doesn't believe in love. Apparently they will be getting married as soon as they can negotiate a prenuptial agreement and she gets a divorce. The reason the H needs a pretend love is to provide cover for his relationship with a married lady. The chemistry is strong and eventually they decide to have a fling for the duration of their contract.

The two of them strike sparks from the start but also seem to antagonize each other. Part of the job is that he will be taking her to the Bahamas and she has a need to get to the Bahamas to deal with a family matter.

Unfortunately he's in a bit of a rush to get this matter handled so he hires her. He's a rich businessman/tycoon who's used to people jumping to do as he wishes and that's the way he likes it. She's definitely not sophisticated or glamorous and she's a bit impertinent. He's not too impressed because she's not his usual type of girl friend. Te h thru some mishaps and misrepresentation manages to be hired by the H to pretend to be the love of his life.

So her best friends devise a plan to help her out: she can hire their gorgeous new flatmate Gib to pose as her doting new fiance! It sounds perfect – except Gib’s not all he seems… The Blind-Date Proposal Kate Savage has landed herself with the boss from hell – he may be gorgeous, in a brooding sort of way, but he’s on her case 24/7! Kate’s friends try cheering her up by arranging for her to go on a blind date.I reread this one yesterday and it continues to be a favorite.
